Scientists have named atypical symptoms of COVID-19, characteristic of the elderly

In patients who are at risk of contracting COVID-19, this disease may be asymptomatic or accompanied by atypical signs. Scientists from the University of East Anglia (UEA) draw attention to this. Reports North Norfolk News.

It is noted that people from nursing homes, most of whom have dangerous chronic diseases, have an asymptomatic course of the new type of coronavirus.

At the same time, for others, experts emphasize, COVID-19 manifested itself in the form of unusual health problems. Among them, they named malaise, fever, coughing fits, and deterioration of the general condition.

“Those living in nursing homes are at high risk of contracting coronavirus and severe illness. Because such people have several concomitant ailments, including dementia, lung disease, impairment of smell, ” the scientists explain.

According to them, in general, this means that in the absence of characteristic symptoms of COVID-19, it is difficult for doctors to detect people infected with it in time.
