In July, it was reported that the President of the Constitutional Assembly of Venezuela, Diosdado Cabello, and the Vice President for Economic Affairs and Minister of the Oil Industry of the country, Tarek El Aissami, were infected with the coronavirus.
The government of the republic reported the first two cases of infection in the country on March 13, the same day a state of emergency was introduced. On March 17, President Nicolas Maduro announced a decision to introduce quarantine throughout the country. To date, 27,938 cases of coronavirus infection have been officially registered in Venezuela, 238 people have died.
