About 3.8 thousand residents of the settlement of Red lake (Ontario) were forced to leave their homes due to forest fires. This was reported on Wednesday by CTV with reference to the mayor of the city, Fred Mota.
Some residents were transported by plane to nearby localities. In total, approximately 4.1 thousand people live in Red lake. No injuries or damage were reported.
According to the regional fire service, forest fires are raging in the immediate vicinity of the city. At the same time, the wind drives the fire towards the locality. The area of the fire is now estimated at 750 ha, while on Tuesday it was 550 ha.
