In Belarus, police used firearms against protesters

Against the background of the third day of riots in Belarus, law enforcement officers used firearms against the demonstrators.

This was reported on August 12 in the Telegram channel of the press secretary of the Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs Olga Chemodanova.

“In Brest, a group of aggressively minded citizens with fittings in their hands attacked police officers. Warning shots upward did not stop them. Firearms were used to protect the life and health of the employees. One of the attackers was wounded,” the Interior Ministry spokesman writes.

According to Chemodanova, on the third night of anti-government protests, actions took place in 25 settlements of the country. Chemodanova claims that in the city of Zhodino, a law enforcement officer was deliberately run over, and in Zhabinka a Molotov cocktail was thrown under an official car.

It should be reminded that anti-government actions in Belarus began after the announcement of the election results, which the opposition refused to recognize. The largest actions took place in Minsk, Brest, Mogilev, and Novopolotsk. At the same time, the police use water cannons, noise grenades, tear gas, and other special means against the demonstrators. The death of one protester has been officially confirmed.
