French Prime Minister Jean Castex on Tuesday announced an extension of the ban on events of more than 5,000 people. This is reported by the French media.
Such a ban was introduced at the end of February, and now it will be in effect until October 30.
According to Castex, such measures were taken due to the deterioration of the epidemiological situation in France.
He also called for extending the mandatory wearing of masks in public places, pointing out that part of the country's population shows “increasingly weak vigilance, discipline, and solidarity.”
Earlier, the French authorities planned that from September 1, the country will resume events with a population of more than 5 thousand people.
According to the latest data, more than 200 thousand cases of coronavirus were detected in France during the pandemic, and about 30 thousand people who contracted the infection died.
