The US presidential candidate supported the protesters and called on Alexander Lukashenko to refrain from violence.
The main rival of the current US president in the upcoming elections, Joe Biden, commented on the elections in Belarus and subsequent protests in the country. This is stated in a statement by the official, published on Tuesday, August 11.
“After the systematic repressions of the regime of Alexander Lukashenko over the past 26 years, the people of Belarus demand that their voices be heard,” the presidential candidate said.
He also noted that everything that happens at the elections and after them do not correspond to the actions of a political leader who is confident that he has won a fair election.
Biden supported the protesters and called on the President of the Republic Alexander Lukashenko to refrain from violence.
“I support those who call for transparent and accurate vote counting and the release of all political prisoners. I also call on President Lukashenko to respect the rights of peaceful protesters and refrain from further violence,” the American politician said.
