The Pentagon made a new statement about the explosion in Beirut

The US Defense Ministry, which recently said that the cause of the explosion in Beirut was an accident, has not ruled out the possibility of an attack on the port. This was stated by the head of the defense Ministry Mark Esper on Fox News.

“We still don't know what happened. On the first day, President Trump correctly suggested that it could have been an attack... Every day we learn more and more. Yesterday, for example, I considered what happened more like an accident, “ Esper said.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that he had spoken with the generals about the explosion in Lebanon, who “seem to believe that it was not some kind of industrial explosion” and that it was “some kind of bomb”. These comments caused confusion and prompted anonymous representatives of the Ministry of defense to tell the American media that there is no indication yet that the bombings were an attack.

We also wrote that local authorities estimate the damage that the tragedy caused to the city at 3-5 billion dollars, which is almost 2% of the annual GDP of all of Lebanon.
