Russia has assessed the threat of a new deadly virus detected in China

Rospotrebnadzor assessed the threat of acute fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS), which is detected in China and transmitted through ticks. Currently, there are no cases of infection on the territory of Russia, and the country has the potential to counteract a new deadly virus. This is reported on Saturday, August 8, press service of the Supervisory authority.

“Specialists of scientific organizations of Rospotrebnadzor have accumulated extensive experience in studying numerous representatives of the bunyavirus family and have the potential to counter the spread of SFTS on the territory of the Russian Federation,” the message reads.

Rospotrebnadzor emphasizes that SFTS is not a new disease, since it was first detected in 2009 in China. Experts note that the symptoms of the virus are thrombocytopenia, leukocytopenia, gastrointestinal tract lesions, vomiting, diarrhea. In addition, there are diagnostics for determining this disease, which allows you to detect it using PCR and ELISA tests.

Earlier it was reported that China recorded an outbreak of a new type of soft virus, which is transmitted through ticks. At least 7 people have already died of it. At the same time, experts believe that if all precautions are taken, there is no reason to panic.
