The explosion occurred as a result of a suicide bomber who was in the car with explosives.
In the capital of Somalia, Mogadishu, there was a strong explosion at a military base, as a result of which 8 people were killed and at least 14 were injured. Reported by Reuters.
The Islamist group Al-Shabab immediately took responsibility for the attack.
Immediately after the explosion, which raised huge clouds of smoke, the Somali military opened fire. However, this was not an attack by an armed group on a base, but a suicide bomber in a car with explosives.
Somalia has reportedly been plunged into constant violence since 1991 when a group of local clan leaders overthrew Siad Barre's rule and began fighting among themselves. Since 2008, the Al-Shabab movement has been constantly conducting terrorist activities in an attempt to overthrow the internationally recognized central government and establish an Islamist regime based on their own interpretation of Sharia.
