Next week, US Secretary of state Michael Pompeo, who told what the energy friendship with Russia is fraught for Europe, will visit the countries of Central and Eastern Europe to discuss energy security issues.
This was told by acting assistant Secretary of state for European and Eurasian Affairs Philip Riker.
He was asked to name a number of topics that the chief of American diplomacy will discuss with the leaders of European countries.
“Energy security. Of course, this is one of the areas [in Europe] where we Express our concern and support to countries in the region such as Poland, which are trying to diversify energy sources so that Russia does not have an instrument of control [over the countries of the region],” the diplomat said.
“Negotiations are continuing, and we are trying very hard to help these countries find alternative sources so that they can start diversifying [energy supplies] away from Russia. This applies to all countries [that the Secretary of state will visit]. Energy will be discussed at a high level [during the trip], “ Riker added.
