WHO has agreed with China on an international investigation into COVID-19

A group of international experts led by the World Health Organization (WHO) will investigate the occurrence of the coronavirus in Wuhan, China. This was stated at a briefing by the head of the organization, Adhanom Gebreyesus.

He explained that a group of experts who had previously arrived in China had determined the conditions for an international investigation to determine where the new pathogen came from. The results of their work will be the basis for joint efforts on this issue.

“Experts from WHO and China have developed a document with the main provisions of the study and the work program of the international group,” said Gebreyesus. According to him, the new group of experts will include representatives of China, as well as other countries.

The research will begin in the city of Wuhan. The main goal is to find the source of the first cases of coronavirus infection. All the materials received will be the basis for further long-term investigation.

The first cases of coronavirus infection were recorded in the Chinese city of Wuhan in late 2019. Initially, the market for wild animals was considered a hotbed of distribution, but this version was denied in China.

US President Donald Trump has said several times that Beijing does not disclose full information on the number of infected people. In addition, he accused China of purposefully using the virus and bribing the who leadership.
