On Saturday, August 1, 45 law enforcement officers were injured and a total of 133 people were detained in Berlin during various protests, including a demonstration against restrictions imposed because of the coronavirus.
Initially, it was reported that 18 police officers were injured, according to Metropolitan police.
In total, 1.1 thousand law enforcement officers ensured order during Saturday's protests.
It is noted that of all the actions, the demonstration against restrictive measures was the largest, it gathered 20 thousand people. It was completed after the police forcefully removed the organizers from the stage. Law enforcement officials referred to the fact that the rules were not observed at the rally: most of the demonstrators did not observe a distance of one and a half meters and did not wear protective masks. After that, demonstrators staged several spontaneous rallies in different parts of the city.
Meanwhile, German Health Minister Jens Spahn ordered all those returning to Germany after a trip abroad from Saturday, August 1, to provide an opportunity to pass a free test for the presence of a coronavirus infection within 72 hours вЂ” even without symptoms of the disease. The results will be ready within 24-48 hours.
