US President Donald Trump believes China is to blame for the increase in the number of unemployed in the United States.
"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer have blocked much-needed unemployment payments, which is so terrible, especially in light of the fact that they are fully aware that it is not the fault of workers, that they are unemployed, it is the fault of China!" - the American leader wrote on Friday on his Twitter page.
The pandemic has had a serious impact on the American economy, including the unemployment rate. As stated on Wednesday, the Chairman of the US Federal reserve system (FRS), which serves as the country's Central Bank, Jerome Powell, in March and April, as a result of strict restrictive measures to combat the spread of the coronavirus, 22 million Americans lost their jobs, about a third of them were able to find a new one since May. According to the head of the Federal Reserve, the unemployment rate in the US is 11.1%, which is much higher than before the coronavirus outbreak, and higher than during the global financial crisis in 2008.
Trump has previously repeatedly repeated that he believes China is responsible for the beginning of the epidemic. Washington accuses Beijing of concealing information about the origin of the virus and the extent of the infection. Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Le Yucheng stressed in an interview with NBC on April 29 that Beijing "did not hide any information" about the coronavirus. He expressed regret that " some politicians are using the situation with the virus to defraud China."
