Putin and Erdogan agree
Turkey will stop military operations in Syria.
This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov following talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
“It (the military operation) is ending. Everything will depend on how much the agreements are implemented, including on the withdrawal of forces and means of the Kurdish units,” Lavrov said.
It is noted that the negotiations between Putin and Erdogan lasted six hours.
According to the agreements, Turkish troops will control the part of the 30-kilometer zone near the border that was under their control as a result of the operation launched by Turkey in Syria 2 weeks ago. Russian forces will be introduced into the remaining parts of the 30-kilometer zone, and Kurdish armed forces will have to leave this zone. After this, a joint Russian-Turkish patrol at the border will begin.
In addition, Vladimir Putin has already informed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad by telephone about these agreements. This was announced by a spokesman for the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov.
