The United States, the EU, and a number of other countries are working on standards for responsible state behavior in cyberspace. This was announced in a written statement published on Thursday by Secretary of state Michael Pompeo in connection with the EU sanctions imposed on structures and citizens of Russia, China, and North Korea allegedly involved in cyber attacks.
The US “continues to work with the EU, its member States and many like-minded countries on standards of responsible behavior of States in cyberspace based on international law,” the chief of American diplomacy said.
He welcomed the introduction of sanctions by the European Union. “The United States and the EU share a vision of open, compatible, reliable, and secure cyberspace, as well as responsible behavior in the international arena.
Disruptive, disruptive, or otherwise destabilizing actions in cyberspace threaten this vision. The United States supports efforts to bring to justice those responsible for malicious activities in cyberspace, and the EU's actions today are an important milestone,” the head of the US Foreign Ministry said.
