The number of cases of coronavirus infection in Brazil increased to 2,553,265, and 70,074 new carriers were registered over the past day. This is evidenced by the published data of official statistics.
The record daily increase in infections is due to the fact that the report published a day earlier did not contain information about the dynamics of the spread of the virus in the state of Sao Paulo. According to updated data from this region, 26,543 new carriers and 713 deaths due to the coronavirus were recorded there in the last two days.
70% of the total number of infected-1,787,419 people-have already recovered, and another 675,712 are active carriers of the virus. The number of deaths from the disease caused by coronavirus reached 90,134, of which 1,595 cases were registered in the last 24 hours. There are 1,215 infected and 42 deaths per 100,000 people.
From 19 to 25 July, a record number of new infections were detected in the country.
Brazil, where the first case of coronavirus infection was confirmed on February 26, ranks second in the list of countries with the highest number of infections and deaths as a result of infection, behind only the United States.
