The North Korean authorities reported that the country has identified the first case of suspected COVID-19. This was reported by the Korean Central Telegraph Agency on July 26.

It is reported that a coronavirus infection is suspected in a defector from South Korea who illegally crossed the “demarcation line”. According to the Agency, he arrived in North Korea on July 19 and was diagnosed with symptoms that are similar to a coronavirus.

In this regard, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un held an emergency meeting of the Politburo to discuss the situation. Also, the Chairman of the State Council of the people's Republic of China said that it is necessary to switch to the state of maximum readiness to protect against the spread of COVID-19.

It is also reported that the quarantine was introduced in the city of Kaesong. At the moment, all districts of the city are isolated from each other, and citizens who had contact with the defector are under constant medical supervision, KCNA said.

Earlier it was reported, according to Kim Jong-UN, the country manages to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection due to the coherence of the country's population and the competent work of the Central Committee of the Labor Party.
