The diplomatic conflict begins between the US and China with the closure of consulates

US authorities have issued an order to urgently close the Chinese Consulate in Houston, Texas. This was announced on Wednesday, July 22, according to Bloomberg, citing the Chinese foreign Ministry.

According to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin, this is an “unprecedented escalation” in relations between the two countries.

He also indicated that Beijing will respond to these actions of the American side.

According to Chinese media, the US authorities gave 72 hours to close the Consulate and informed Beijing about it the day before.

It is noted that several people built a fire in iron barrels and containers and put it out after a while.

Firefighters and police arrived at the scene but were not allowed to enter. People on the territory of the Consulate told rescuers that everything is in order and help is not needed.

We remind you that relations between the two countries have been deteriorating recently due to a number of reasons. In particular, last week the state Department announced the introduction of visa sanctions against Chinese officials, as Beijing restricts access to American diplomats, journalists, and tourists in Tibet. Later, US sanctions were imposed on events in Hong Kong. In turn, China imposed sanctions against American officials.

And today, the US Justice Department accused two Chinese hackers of trying to break into the computer networks of companies developing a coronavirus vaccine. It was claimed that the hackers planned to transfer the stolen data to the Chinese government.
