French law enforcement officers have released a man who was previously arrested on suspicion of possibly setting fire to a Gothic Cathedral in the city of Nantes.
This is reported by BFM TV.
“The day after the fire in Nantes Cathedral, the volunteer who was previously taken into custody was released,” the report said.
It is noted that the man answered questions about his daily routine, and investigators did not consider it necessary to keep him in custody. According to the TV channel, the investigation will not open a criminal case against him.
“Any version of this person's involvement in the incident is premature,” the Prosecutor said in this regard.
As reported, on July 19, French law enforcement officers detained a 39-year-old man on suspicion of setting fire to the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul in Nantes.
A native of Rwanda who came to seek asylum in France a few years ago worked in the local diocese.
