The US Space Force launched a rocket with secret satellites

This is the first launch under the control of the newly formed US Space Force. Secret satellites will collect information for US intelligence.

The Space Forces of the US armed forces on Wednesday, July 15, launched a Minotaur-4 carrier rocket into orbit with four secret satellites. NASA reported that the launch was carried out in the interests of the US National office of military space intelligence (NRO).

The launch conducted from the Baikonur NASA wallops flight facility, located on the eponymous island off the Atlantic coast of the U.S. state of Virginia, at 09:46 East coast time USA.

“The launch of the NROL-129 mission is intended to fulfill the tasks of the National office of military space intelligence to provide intelligence to senior US politicians, the intelligence community and the Department of defense,” the office said in a statement.

The goals, orbit, size, and other characteristics of secret American satellites in the NROL-129 mission are not reported.

The launch was the first conducted under the control of the newly formed US Space Force from the NASA wallops spaceport.

The Minotaur-4 four-stage launch vehicle was developed by Northrop Grumman Corporation based on the decommissioned Peacekeeper Intercontinental ballistic missile. It is capable of delivering a payload of up to 1,725 kg to a low earth orbit 185 km high.

Recall that the US Space Forces were created on behalf of Trump in December 2019. The purpose of the new type of troops was called the protection of US national security interests in space. In mid-January, the Pentagon showed the uniform of the US Space Forces.
