Discussion of the law allowing same-sex marriage continues in Thailand. The bill was approved by the government.
Now the document will be considered in the Thai Parliament. It refers to the possibility of legalizing the relations of same-sex couples and also gives them the right to officially adopt children.
According to the bill, such a marriage must be voluntary, and persons over 17 years old can enter into such a relationship. Couples must be Thai nationals. Younger Thais will also be able to enter into same-sex relationships. To do this, they will need permission from their parents, guardians, or court. The issuance of such permission is also provided for by the new law.
Same-sex marriages will be equal in rights with traditional families. For this, amendments are being prepared for the country's Civil Code.
