Trump's lawyer led a “shadow” foreign policy in Ukraine, bypassing official procedures, for the personal benefits of the president, Hill claims.

During testimony on US Congress committees, a former presidential adviser to President Donald Trump for Russia and Europe, Fiona Hill, said his lawyer, Rudolf Giuliani, conducted a “shadow” foreign policy in Ukraine, bypassing official procedures, for the personal benefit of the president. It is reported by The Washington Post, citing sources familiar with its testimony.

As noted, Hill testified for 10 hours.

According to media reports, she said that she was in opposition to US Ambassador to the EU Gordon Sondland because of Giuliani’s activities. According to her, Giuliani did not coordinate with official US diplomacy.

According to sources, Hill said that Trump's former national security adviser John Bolton was “furious” with Giuliani’s actions against Ukraine and compared him to a “grenade that would blow everyone up.”

According to Hill, at a meeting in early July, where she, Bolton, Sondland, ex-Special Envoy for Ukraine Kurt Volker and Energy Secretary Rick Perry attended, Sondland talked about investigations in Ukraine that were stopped and needed to be resumed. Those present were convinced that this was Burisma and Hunter Biden, the son of a possible Trump rival in the 2020 election.

At the same time, the New York Times, citing sources, reports that after the meeting, Bolton allegedly asked Hill to notify the chief lawyer of the US National Security Council about the “fraudulent” efforts of Sondland, Giuliani and Mick Mulvaney, the acting head of the White House apparatus.

“I’m not participating in any“ crazy deal ”that Sondland and Mulvaney are preparing,” Bolton allegedly asked Hill to transfer to White House lawyers.

In turn, Giuliani said that he does not know Hill and “has no idea what she is talking about.”

Earlier it was reported that in the US they are investigating the activities of Giuliani in Ukraine. US prosecutors are trying to establish whether Trump's lawyer tried to secure the resignation of the US ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch, who testified in Congress last week.
